Key facts
  • Fading profiles: Rayleigh, Rice, lognormal, Suzuki, constant phase, pure Doppler, static path
  • Predefined fading settings for all important digital communications standards
  • Full flexibility due to individual configuration of all fading parameters
  • 3GPP-compliant birth-death, moving delay and high-speed train scenarios (with the R&S®SMW-K71 option)
  • MIMO fading simulation (via multiple installed R&S®SMW-B14 options and the R&S®SMW-K74 option)
  • Independent or correlated fading between multiple fading channels (with two or more installed R&S®SMW-B14 options)

Brief description The internal realtime fading simulator of the R&S®SMW200A is a cost-effective solution for testing the behavior of devices under realistic transmission conditions. A single R&S®SMW-B14 hardware fading module can simulate a SISO fading channel with up to 20 individually configurable fading paths. Predefined settings for digital communications standards such as LTE, 3GPP FDD, GSM, CDMA2000, Tetra or WLAN ensure simulation of standard compliant fading scenarios. The R&S®SMW200A can be equipped with up to four powerful R&S®SMW-B14 fading options, allowing up to 16 fading channels to be generated simultaneously (e.g. for MIMO applications). For further details on MIMO fading capabilities, please see “R&S®SMW-K74 MIMO/Routing” option.
